Each May, as the school year draws to a close, MOSTe and MoreMOSTe scholars and mentors are invited to a two-day, overnight retreat to enjoy nature without the distractions of cars, telephones or televisions. The casual, rustic atmosphere of the retreat is conducive to reflection, candid interaction, and communication.
Scholars stay in group cabins in a camp setting, and participate in:
- Interactive exercises and games designed to teach the girls skills such as goal-setting, communication, teamwork, and more
- Fun physical activities such as hiking and dancing, to encourage fitness and healthy lifestyles
- Creative team-building challenges, such as a group talent show
- Council circles, facilitated by the Ojai Foundation, to foster attentive listening, authentic expression and a heightened sense of common purpose
Girls leave the retreat with a greater sense of empowerment, new friends, and a plan of action for higher education and a future career.
