On February 1st, MOSTE held its third workshop of the year at Occidental College.
At 9am we had 60 middle schools scholars pull up in the buses from our five-partnership middle school plus 50 More MOSTE scholars.
For this workshop our middle school scholars looked at Anne Sexton’s poem Cinderella and demystified some of those fairy tale truths! The girls talked about feminism, careers, leaning in, college and careers. Scholars created and shared poems of their own. In the afternoon, academic check-in with our amazing team of mentors and SMART goal setting.
Our More MOSTE scholars learned about financial aid for college and created their own financial aid timeline to college. In the afternoon as part of our social change program, the high school scholars listened to a presentation from the Canine Companions for Independence organization. Rio one of their canine companions was a hit!
