2024 MOSTe Culmination

We held our end-of-the-year MOSTe Culmination on June 22, 2024, and it was a wonderful day filled with joy! Our community came together to honor our 8th, 12th, and alumni graduates. We also heard from our 8th-grade speaker, Emma Diaz, about her aspirations for high school. We welcomed our 12th-grade speaker, Monica Contrearas, who spoke about her incredible journey with MOSTe and being a Youth Ambassador. We also honored the graduates’ Mentors and thanked them for their commitment to their mentees.

For our graduates, we are excited for what is to come and look forward to your journeys ahead. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you!

MOSTe attends The Dodger Foundation’s College & Career Workshop

Our 11th and 12th-grade scholars were invited to attend The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s 25th Annual College and Career Accelerator College Workshop on June 25, 2024. All attendees received a hat, Dodger food, and tickets to a future Dodger Game. Scholars had the opportunity to mingle with their peers, network, and learn more about the College application process. Scholars heard from College Advisors about their diverse educational experiences, sat in a live Q&A Panel, and had mini breakout sessions to complete their assigned activities.

We want to thank the LA Dodgers Foundation for inviting our scholars!

Mentor Moment

This month was emotional as it was the end of the school year for my scholars and five years of mentorship. During the last five years, the scholars and I have built a long-life relationship. As a mentor, I am confident my scholars’ priority in life is to achieve a college career and to be role models for future generations. I look forward to the next school year. Thank you, MOSTe staff, for all the resources and support each of you provides the scholars and mentors. Two of my mentees traveled to Honduras to visit their father’s homeland. They were very excited to meet their father’s family for the first time. Their photos show a happy family bonding and learning new customs and traditions. – Mentor Elba S.

My mentee and I went to see the play “A Strange Loop,” and on the drive there and back, we had a nice time catching up about her recent birthday and 8th-grade graduation. – Mentor Kelly K.

My mentees and I went to dinner and saw a Strange Loop. Thank you, MOSTe, for the tickets! We’ve also chatted via text during the month. – Mentor Terry H.
