Cheryl Burke has been celibate since her split from Matthew Lawrence.
Choosing to remain single after her 2022 divorce has given the former “Dancing With the Stars” teacher “so much more self-love, self-respect and self-worth,” she said. He told us weekly Thursday.
“I love that I’ve grown so much and that I’m doing it consciously and with intention,” the 40-year-old dancer added, noting that people act as if she “speaks a different language” when she talks about her decision.
Every time Burke questions her choice, she reminds herself that she's following in a certain singer's footsteps by abstaining.
“I’m jumping on that Mya train,” he said, referring to the 44-year-old Grammy winner who recently announced she has been celibate for seven years. “Come on, Mya.”
Burke went on to tell the outlet that she has no plans to look for love on dating apps in the future.
“It will happen when it is meant to happen,” she said. “When my energy shifts, then I know that if it happens, I am ready. I am in no rush.”
The “Dance Moms” alum filed for divorce from Lawrence, 44, in February 2022 after nearly three years of marriage.
The actor has since moved on with Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas.
The couple went public with their romance in late 2022, with Lawrence Counting “Entertainment Tonight” the year after having children together is part of their “game plan.”
