Robert F. Kennedy Jr. allegedly cheated on his wife, Cheryl Hines, with New York Magazine political correspondent Olivia Nuzzi.
“The nature of some communications between me and a former reporter became personal,” the journalist, 31, admitted in a statement Thursday night without naming the 70-year-old former 2024 presidential candidate, who dropped out of the race last month.
Nuzzi insisted, however, that their relationship was not physical.
Sources He told the Post that the journalist and the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy allegedly exchanged sexual text messages while she was engaged and he was married.
Following his admission, New York Magazine announced in a note to readers that Nuzzi has been placed on leave.
“Recently, our Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi acknowledged to the magazine’s editors that she had engaged in a personal relationship with a former 2024 campaign insider while reporting on the campaign, a violation of the magazine’s standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures,” the publication said in a statement.
“If the magazine had known about this relationship, she would not have continued covering the presidential campaign.”
The journal shared that “no inaccuracies or evidence of bias” were found in an internal review of its published articles.
“He is currently on leave from the magazine and the magazine is conducting a more thorough review by a third party. We regret this violation of our readers’ trust,” the outlet concluded.
RFK Jr. has been married to Hines, 58, since 2014.
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” alum has not publicly responded to the news.
