One person was killed and another injured in a knife attack in the Dutch city of Rotterdam on Thursday evening, police said. The suspect has been arrested.
The attack took place near the iconic Erasmus bridge in the city centre. Police spokesman Wessel Stolle said the suspect in custody was also injured and taken to hospital.
Stolle added that investigators have not yet determined a motive and were looking “in all possible scenarios.”
According to the newspaper De Telegraaf, the suspect was armed with two large knives and was stabbing people at random. Several witnesses interviewed by Dutch media said the attacker was shouting “Allahu Akbar”.
