Multiple 'hit teams' targeting Trump, US lawmaker says – RT World News

The alleged hitmen may be getting help from a “mole” inside the Secret Service, Matt Gaetz suggested

Five “teams of assassins” They are currently trying to kill former US President Donald Trump, Florida Representative Matt Gaetz said, citing sources at the Department of Homeland Security.

Speaking to Breitbart News on Thursday, Gaetz condemned an apparent assassination attempt on Trump last weekend as “tragic” and “avoidable,” claiming that there is not enough security around the former president to protect him from harm.

Gaetz went on to claim that he recently met with a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official, who told him that there are “At least five teams in the country that are prepared to kill Trump.”

“We know that three of them are foreign in nature. We know that two of them are domestic in nature, and that requires force protection that we do not have at this time around the former president.” Gaetz went on to point out that foreign teams are linked to Ukraine, Iran and Pakistan.

These teams can move freely in the United States, Gaetz said, because there are “There is not enough scrutiny to stop them from doing so.”

In the past two months, Trump has survived two assassination attempts. The former president and Republican presidential nominee narrowly avoided death at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July, when a bullet fired from about 150 yards away grazed his ear. The gunman fired from a rooftop that had inexplicably been left unprotected by the Secret Service and managed to kill one rally-goer and wound two others before he was shot dead by a sniper.

The second attempt took place on Sunday at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. A gunman aiming at Trump from behind bushes was scared off by Secret Service agents and arrested after he fled the scene. The suspect, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, had unsuccessfully tried to join the Ukrainian military in 2022 and then embarked on a plan to recruit former Afghan commandos to fight for kyiv.

Routh was questioned by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents upon his return to the United States later that year. According to Gaetz, the agents “They thought his story was so suspicious that he was recruiting freedom fighters around the world to go fight in Ukraine, and when they asked him how he was funding this, he said, 'Oh, well, my wife is paying for it.'”

CBP referred Routh to the DHS investigative unit, which… “He refused to even proceed with an investigation,” Gaetz continued. “They just stopped him and let him into the country. We have a lot of questions about that.”

With two assassins able to come within firing range of Trump, Gaetz said some of his Republican colleagues “We have not ruled out the possibility that there is a mole within the Secret Service who is providing information about vulnerable areas.”

“I have not seen evidence of that,” The Florida Republican clarified: “But I have colleagues who are very, very smart about this and who say they can't rule it out, given some of the anomalies and the fact pattern here.”
