Jets fans burn Patriots jersey in wild scene before 'TNF' game

Jets fans were clearly feeling pretty good heading into Thursday's matchup against the Patriots.

So much so that some fans in the MetLife Stadium parking lot began burning a jersey with the number 10 in a clip posted on social media.

The video showed a Jets fan wearing a green hat and what appeared to be a chef's shirt, with “JETS” written on the back, cheering on a crowd of fans.

The man led the group in a “JETS” chant before setting the shirt on fire to the delight of the crowd.

The New England jersey quickly caught fire before the individual led the group of fans in another “JETS” chant and the clip ended with Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” beginning to play on a nearby speaker.

It's unclear whether the jersey burned belonged to Mac Jones, now with the Jaguars, or Drake Maye, the Patriots' third overall pick in this year's draft.

If the shirt was in fact a Maye shirt, then burning it would have been a costly endeavor for whoever bought it.

A No. 10 Maye jersey similar to the one burned is listed for $129 on the Patriots' website, while the same site lists a Jones jersey for $38.99.

The Jets entered Thursday's game 1-1 after the first two games of the season with the rival Patriots in town for their home opener in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The game marks the first time since last season's opener against the Bills that Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will play at MetLife Stadium.

The future Hall of Famer suffered a season-ending injury on the first offensive possession of that game and changed the trajectory of the Jets' season.
