Israeli warplanes strike targets in southern Lebanon (VIDEO) — RT World News

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced that it carried out airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. This comes after Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced “a new stage” of Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza and pro-Palestinian militants in Lebanon.

According to the IDF, warplanes attacked a rocket launcher and several buildings used by Hezbollah operatives in Jebbayn, Haltam Kafr Kila, Odaisseh and Chama.

The IDF released a video of the attacks.

The airstrikes came after militants fired more than 40 rockets from Lebanon toward northern Israel on Wednesday, according to the Times of Israel.

Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate against Israel after hundreds of handheld pagers and walkie-talkies used by militants spontaneously exploded in Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing at least 32 people and wounding 3,200 others.

Although the Jewish state has refused to acknowledge its alleged role in the incident, several news organizations reported that Israel's Mossad spy agency was responsible for placing explosives in the devices.

In response to rising tensions with Hezbollah, the Israel Defense Forces have redeployed its elite 98th Paratrooper Division from northern Gaza to the Lebanese border, Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi said Wednesday.
