Getting started as a Tasker

Kyle was looking for a way to make some extra money when he heard about Taskrabbit from his brother.

“For a few years I supported myself by selling paintings, but at least once a year I would have a two- or three-month period where I didn’t sell anything,” she said. “During one of those low-income months a couple of years ago, I called my brother for advice and he told me about Taskrabbit as a side hustle. I tried it!”

How to maximize profits

Kyle made over $10,000 during his peak earning months by implementing a few best practices.

“Respond quickly to incoming job offers and practice good communication before the day of the assignment,” she said. “Be open to difficult assignments to gain experience. This will make it easier (over time) and you will earn more money in the long run.”

Kyle was also strategic in how he approached each task.

“Always require a two-hour minimum for moving jobs and be quick to accommodate more tasks during peak seasons, (especially) the summer months,” he said.

A moving truck is an investment that will pay off

Kyle shared some key tips for other Taskers who want to make money helping people move.

“Buy a van and take care of it, be fair with your rates and always make sure the customer has all the information they need and you do too,” he said. “Open up your availability, be friendly and always exceed expectations. Good reviews and experience pay off on the platform, so keep using it!”
