Florence Pugh says her ‘body suffered a little trauma’ after shaving her head for ‘We Live in Time’

Florence Pugh talks about shaving her head for her latest movie role.

Sitting with British Vogue For its October 2024 issue, the 28-year-old actress opened up about the decision to cut her hair onscreen for her latest film, “We Live in Time,” in which she plays a chef who receives a shocking medical diagnosis.

“In many religions, hair is the most precious part of the body: it is where memories, dreams and history are stored,” she told the publication.

“(Shaving) was really weird. My head was really sensitive and a lot of people were trying to touch it, but it was really alive.”

He also admitted that his “body suffered a little trauma from it.” Venetia Scott

The experience also stirred many feelings in Pugh.

“My body suffered a little trauma,” he admitted. “I was cold all the time.”

After originally debuting the buzz cut at the 2023 Met Gala, Pugh added that she’s glad to finally be able to talk about it.

“For any actor playing a role like this, it’s absolutely important to see her head and to see her shaved, it was always an obvious decision,” he said. “You have the honor of doing something that totally supports the character.”

It was also a unique experience for the actress’ co-star and love interest in the film, Andrew Garfield, who was tasked with maneuvering the knife during the monumental scene.

“It was a privilege to be given that job,” she told British Vogue, although she noted that it was a little stressful cutting the hair of a famous actress.

In the same interview, the “Midsommer” star also addressed the criticism she has received about her body, saying that it is “very difficult” and “painful” to read comments. Venetia Scott

“What if I somehow destroyed the head of one of the greatest actresses of her generation? It was terrifying, but ultimately it was a very beautiful and intimate scene to film and thank goodness she has such a well-shaped melon.”

The “Midsommer” star, who has become known for sporting elaborate, sheer designs on the red carpet, also took a moment to address the criticism she’s received about her body throughout her career.

“It’s very difficult,” he said.

“The internet is a very cruel place. It’s very painful to read people talking badly about my confidence or my weight. I never feel good. The only thing I ever wanted to achieve was not to sell anyone anything other than the real me.”

While “We Live in Time” recently debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival, it is scheduled to hit theaters on October 11.
