DC Canna Coffee owner Greg Harris berates Uber Eats driver for 'learning English' in viral TikTok before health officials shut down shop

A Washington DC coffee shop owner went on a racist tirade against a Spanish-speaking Uber Eats delivery driver, demanding he “learn English” and mocking his language.

Canna Coffee owner Greg Harris was caught on a viral video posted on tiktok On Monday, he reprimanded driver Gregorio Amundarain for allegedly earning “money” in the United States and not knowing English while picking up an order.

“Learn English! Learn it!” Harris yells into Amundarain’s face and then into Amundarain’s phone camera as he begins recording the blatant verbal attack.

“If you want to make money in the United States, learn English!”

Harris is then seen grabbing the driver's second phone, which was apparently used for his delivery, and reiterating his racially charged comments.

“I don’t speak English,” Amundarain replies as the enraged café owner continues to shout.

The driver then begins speaking in Spanish, at which point Harris is heard angrily mocking the driver with gibberish and getting in his face.

“This is not your fucking country! This is not your fucking country! Learn English!” the owner shouted directly into the driver’s face.

Harris continues to yell and taunt Amundarain before hitting him in the chest with a brown paper bag containing the food order the delivery driver was picking up, over and over again.

Amundarain left the establishment but was followed by Harris, who is seen harassing him again before the one-minute video ends.

The video, which has racked up nearly 20 million views since it was posted, has sparked outrage against the DC cafeteria.

Amundarain, who moved from Venezuela to the United States to provide a better life for his family, said Fox 5 Washington DC that the encounter between him and the owner quickly escalated and he began recording for his safety.

“There was no need for me to be treated with such disrespect,” the Uber Eats driver told the outlet.

Amundarain said he filed a report with the DC Police Department about how he was being discriminated against, according to Fox 5.

Authorities told the outlet they are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime and simple assault.

Uber said it has since banned Canna Coffee from its platform. mail Wednesday X.

“We are outraged by the behavior displayed in this video. Hate has no place on our platform, we have removed this company from our app and are working to check on the well-being of this delivery driver,” the food delivery and ride-sharing company wrote.

Since Amundarain was seen being reprimanded on camera, DC Health, which conducts pass-fail inspections in the city for food establishments, said Canna Coffee was operating illegally when the driver went to pick up the order, according to WUSA9.

D.C. health officials said they inspected Canna Coffee on Sept. 11 and found the establishment had several violations.

Officials immediately issued a summary suspension and closed the store on Sept. 18 until “further notice.”

However, Canna Coffee remained open and violated the order, officials told the outlet.

Officials failed to disclose the violations, leading to Canna Coffee receiving a summary suspension.

It was also revealed that the DC Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP) has been investigating the business for months.

DLCP filed two notices of violation against Canna Coffee on May 13 and Aug. 8, but did not share what prompted them to file the notices, department officials told WUSA9.

According to WUSA9, Harris and her attorney plan to hold a press conference on Monday.
