Aaron Rodgers dominates as Jets crush Patriots in home opener
Aaron Rodgers put the pressure on the Patriots… and their head coach, too.
Rodgers and the Jets dominated New England in a 24-3 victory in their home opener at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night.
Rodgers was surgical in tearing apart the Patriots' defense, completing 27 of 35 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns.
The win put the Jets at 2-1 for the first time since 2015, but the blowout victory wasn't without one strange scene.
After Breece Hall's second-quarter touchdown run gave the Jets a 14-0 lead, television cameras caught an awkward exchange between Rodgers and Jets coach Robert Saleh.
When Rodgers reached the sideline, Saleh went to hug him, but Rodgers put his hands on Saleh's chest and gently pushed him away while saying something to the coach before walking away and staring at Saleh.
It's clear which side Jets fans would be on in a dispute between coach and quarterback, as they broke out into “Aaron Rodgers” chants several times in the second half.
The Jets couldn't have a good win without something strange happening.
It was a good night for the Jets, despite the odd interaction between Saleh and Rodgers.
MetLife was rocking during pregame introductions reminiscent of last year's season opener, with Rodgers again the last player to be introduced to a raucous ovation.
