Why 80% of CEOs want their employees to return to the office

Amazon (AMZN) is implementing a return-to-office policy, asking its corporate employees to be in the office five days a week. KPMG CEO Paul Knopp joins Catalysts to discuss how CEOs feel about return-to-office mandates.

from KPMG CEO Outlook Survey for 2024 It was observed that almost 80% of CEOs are looking to bring their workforce back to the office in the next three years.

“I’ve seen a lot of experimentation and change over the last few years. It’s a very industry- or company-specific story, so every company will be a little different in our sector,” Knopp explains. However, he believes hybrid working is “probably here to stay.”

“The hybrid model has worked pretty well for a lot of organizations. At the same time, we all have to recognize that we need our employees back together enough so they can learn, ideate, collaborate, get mentored, and develop. And it’s a delicate balance, because the hybrid environment is much more complex to optimize than the other two environments, you know, fully remote or fully in-office, which are both simpler.”
