Jane’s Addiction releases new song after Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro feud

Jane’s Addiction has impeccable pacing.

The rock band released a new song just days after announcing they decided to “take some time off as a group” after bandmates Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro got into an onstage fight.

The single, called “True love” It came out on Tuesday. The band promoted the song. on social networkswithout warning that they were going to release new music.

“True Love is now streaming everywhere,” they wrote on Instagram.

According Rolling StoneThe band debuted “True Love” last year at the end of a show in Bakersfield, California. The group’s lineup at the time included Farrell, 65, Stephen Perkins and Eric Avery.

Navarro, 57, was recovering from long-term COVID and was briefly replaced by Troy Van Leeuwen.

“True Love” is the second single from the reunited lineup of Jane’s Addiction.

The first was “Imminent redemption” which came out in July in the middle of the band’s reunion tour.

The core members of Jane’s Addiction (which formed in 1985) embarked on their first tour together in 14 years over the summer.

But last Friday, during their Boston concert, the group broke into chaos when an angry Farrell approached Navarro and threw punches. Several crew members and Avery, 59, had to restrain him.

The rock group canceled its Sunday show in Bridgeport, Connecticut, after the fight.

On Monday they cancelled the remaining dates of their tour.

“To all fans, the band has made the difficult decision to take some time off as a group,” the band said in A statement from Instagram“Therefore, they will cancel the rest of the tour.”

Navarro, Avery and Perkins, 57, each released separate statements blaming Farrell for the altercation and cancellation of the tour.

“Due to an ongoing pattern of behavior and mental health difficulties of our lead singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to cut short our current U.S. tour,” they shared.

“Our concern for his personal health and safety, as well as our own, has left us with no alternative. We hope he finds the help he needs,” they added.

Farrell, for his part, apologized for his behavior in a statement of his own.

“This weekend has been incredibly difficult, and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show,” the musician’s message reads.

He added: “Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior and I take full responsibility for how I chose to handle the situation.”

Sources close to the situation told The Post exclusively that Farrell is “heartbroken by his actions” and needs to prioritize himself right now.

“He realizes he waited too long to prioritize his well-being. His exhaustion and the toll it has taken on his physical and mental health have gone too far,” the source told The Post. “He had the best intentions going on tour with the band and feels he has let his fans and family down.”

Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, addressed the situation, saying her husband became angry when the instruments began to drown out his voice.

He also alleged that when the three band members left the stage, Avery “approached Perry, upstage, in the dark, behind (soundman Dan Cleary), put Perry in a headlock and punched him three times in the stomach.”

Etty Lau said Farrell “did not calm down, but broke down and cried and cried” after the incident.
