Video of Julio Urías domestic violence incident surfaces

A video has surfaced of former Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias’ domestic violence incident, and it shows him hitting his wife.

Urias, who was arrested last September on suspicion of felony domestic violence, can be seen attacking his wife outside BMO Stadium in Los Angeles after an LAFC game, video obtained by the Los Angeles Times shows.

The Sept. 3, 2023 video then shows the 28-year-old man pushing his wife against a fence before the two separated, but Urias then threw a left jab at his wife before he was pinned down.

A witness recorded the video, which was released by the California Highway Patrol.

In April, Urias was charged with five misdemeanors: one count of spousal battery, one count of false imprisonment, one count of assault and two counts of domestic battery related to a dating relationship.

In May, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery and was placed on 36 months probation, while the other four charges were dismissed.

He was also ordered to complete 30 days of community service and a 52-week domestic violence counselling course.

MLB placed Urias on administrative leave three days after the incident, and the left-hander went unsigned after his contract with the Dodgers expired.

La Liga has not yet decided on a possible suspension for Urias.

“MLB continues to gather all relevant evidence in our investigation,” a league spokesperson told the LA Times on Wednesday.

If Urias is suspended, he would become the first player suspended twice under the league’s domestic violence policy; he received a 20-game suspension in 2019 after an incident at a shopping mall.

Urias, a member of the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series championship team, went 20-3 with a 2.96 ERA in 2021 and 17-7 with a 2.16 ERA in 2022, finishing third in NL Cy Young voting.

He then went 11-8 with a 4.60 ERA last season.
