Committed to preserving the environment, Pernod Ricard Nigeria joins global efforts to commemorate World Cleanup Day

Pernod Ricard Nigeria, a member of the Pernod Ricard Group, is celebrating this year's World Cleanup Day with the theme “Make Room For Life”, in collaboration with Let's Do It Nigeria, the authorised representative of World Cleanup Day in Nigeria.

World Cleanup Day, an annual global social action programme, aims to combat the global waste problem and promote a shift towards better waste management. Last year, over 26,000 volunteers collected over 2,800 tonnes of waste across 28 states in collaboration with Let's Do It Nigeria.

The clean-up operation strongly aligns with Pernod Ricard’s Sustainability and Responsibility Roadmap to 2030, specifically under the Circular Manufacturing pillar, and represents a long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability, ensuring a healthy future for Nigerians and global societies alike.

As a socially responsible organisation and through its sustainability roadmap, Pernod Ricard has planted over 6,000 trees across Nigeria, eliminated single-use plastics, reduced its environmental impact through reusable and recyclable packaging, unpacking some of its brands, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Chivas Regal and Imperial Blue Whiskey, eliminating single-bottle cartons to reduce waste, whilst applying five key principles: Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Respect to its operations.

According to Michael Ehindero, Managing Director of Pernod Ricard Nigeria: “We share a world of finite resources that is under enormous pressure due to the activities of humanity. At Pernod Ricard, we strive to minimise waste at every step by imagining, producing and distributing our products and experiences in ways that optimise the use and promote the preservation of natural resources.” Our aim is to minimise environmental impact while creating better moments and positive interactions with our consumers.
