Lions’ Dan Campbell sells his $4.5 million home after fans learn where he lives

Dan Campbell is on the move.

The Lions head coach has put the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, home he shares with his family up for sale for $4.5 million due to safety concerns. Crain’s Detroit reported Wednesday.

“There’s plenty of room, it’s on two acres, the house is beautiful. The thing is, people realized where we lived when we lost,” said Campbell, whose Lions reached the NFC Championship Game last season.

The property was listed earlier in the week and was designated as “pending” within 24 hours, according to Crain’s.

Although the potential buyers have not been identified, real estate agent Ashley Crain revealed that they are “huge” fans of the Detroit franchise.

Originally built in 2013 by Hockey Hall of Famer Igor Larionov, a three-time Stanley Cup winner with the Red Wings, the 7,800-square-foot abode features “a stunning 2-story foyer that sets the tone for the home’s opulent interiors,” according to the listing.

Campbell, who was named Lions coach in 2021, had an up-and-down first year: the team posted a 3-13-1 record. The Lions earned their first win in Week 13 of the season.

From there, Detroit only surged, closing out 2022 with a 9-8 regular-season record as the franchise continued its transformation into a powerhouse.

The Lions finished last season atop the NFC North at 12-5, capturing their first division title in 30 years.

Detroit’s dreams of a Super Bowl berth fell short in January’s heartbreaking NFC Championship win over the 49ers.

Campbell was criticized for questionable decisions in the 34-31 loss, most notably the decision to pass on two field goal opportunities.

The Lions have since put that game in the rearview mirror and opened the 2024 season with a 26-20 overtime win against the Rams and former Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford.

They lost a Week 2 matchup against the Buccaneers, 20-16, after beating Tampa Bay in January en route to the NFC title game.

The Lions (1-1) visit the Cardinals (1-1) on Sunday.
