The Senate Armed Services Committee is preparing to hold a new hearing to boost the credibility of the Pentagon division tasked with dealing with unidentified flying objects, a senior lawmaker said.
The All Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) was founded in July 2022 with the help of New York Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. On Monday, Gillibrand told the Daily Mail that she is working to schedule a hearing within weeks.
“It’s a priority for me because I think it’s very important that we continue to make things publicly available.” Gillibrand said.
The Armed Services Committee intends to host “a progress report on how many unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) we have assessed and analyzed, giving examples of what we have identified, and giving examples of what we have not identified,” She told the outlet.
According to Gillibrand, the hearing should renew public confidence in AARO, following a series of allegations by military whistleblowers about the government's cover-up of possible extraterrestrial encounters.
“We also want to try to continue to generate credibility within this office (AARO) so that more people can provide their comments and have a place and a platform to send information and queries,” He added: “Because that is, ultimately, what this office is supposed to do.”
The announcement of the hearing comes just two weeks after a video of a “giant UFO” with “Lots of flashing and rotating lights” was aware on Reddit. The sighting was reported in Choteau, Montana, less than 100 kilometers from Malmstrom Air Force Base, a major nuclear missile facility.
“The photos aren’t scary, but seeing what you actually believe to be a huge object in the silent night sky passing over YOUR head and your home has a lot more emotional weight in person.” said the anonymous witness.
When some users suggested the phenomenon could have been a constellation of Elon Musk's Starlink communications satellites, the witness disagreed.
“I am familiar with the Starlink videos,” He wrote. “As we were observing the object, it was very obvious that the lights were surrounding the silhouette of a large craft. You couldn’t see through the lights, it was completely dark behind them. Our impression was that we were seeing a disc shape from the side.”
The encounter occurred at around 10 p.m. local time on August 31, the man said, adding that his wife was “Shaking and crying from the experience” after.
