Why Celebrimbor doesn’t see the real Eregion in Rings of Power Season 2, Episode 6

Celebrimbor cannot see the true Eregion in The rings of power Season 2, Episode 6, which raises the question of how Sauron accomplished this. For the most part, Season 2 of the Prime Video show has focused on Sauron’s plan in The rings of power. After being briefly cast out by Galadriel in The rings of power At the end of Season 1, Sauron returned to Eregion and Celebrimbor to finish crafting the title jewels, leading the latter character down a dark path of deception and manipulation.

The reason why Celebrimbor believes in illusions comes from the previous episodes of The rings of power season 2. Since the premiere, Sauron has been slowly entering Celebrimbor’s mind, following Adar’s words. “His eye makes a hole and the rest of his body slides into it.” Using his mastery of deception, manipulation and trickery, Sauron has gradually convinced Celebrimbor that he is losing his mind, successfully transmitting this “reality” to the other smiths of Eregion as well.

Such as, The rings of power Season 2 Episode 6 shows Celebrimbor at his lowest point. Celebrimbor doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not as a result of Sauron’s manipulation, meaning that the latter can easily cast his spell of illusion on the former. This explains why Celebrimbor is oblivious to what’s really going on in Eregion, as he can no longer differentiate between logic and reality or fiction and deception.

For example, trickery and deceit are Sauron’s primary weapons in Tolkien’s Legendarium, as is his ability to shape-shift at will, such as presenting himself as The rings of powerIt’s Annatar.

Considering that Sauron has the ability to change his own appearance, it is no exaggeration to say that he can manipulate the environment around him using his sorcery. This likely explains how he is able to create the vision of a peaceful Eregion for Celebrimbor. Sauron has already made his way inside Celebrimbor’s mind and only needs to use a little magic to create the illusion around him. While it is not something that is fully described in Tolkien’s books, Sauron’s vision is another example of The rings of power cleverly altering the source material to tell a compelling story.
