Why Celebrimbor doesn’t see the real Eregion in Rings of Power Season 2, Episode 6

Celebrimbor cannot see the true Eregion in The rings of power Season 2, Episode 6, which raises the question of how Sauron accomplished this. For the most part, Season 2 of the Prime Video show has focused on Sauron’s plan in The rings of power. After being briefly cast out by Galadriel in The rings of power At the end of Season 1, Sauron returned to Eregion and Celebrimbor to finish crafting the title jewels, leading the latter character down a dark path of deception and manipulation.

This plan has proven quite successful so far, with 10 of the 20 total Rings of Power created. The rings of power Season 2, Episode 6, Sauron begins to lose patience with Celebrimbor, who has yet to perfect the crafting of the nine rings of men. As the Siege of Eregion progresses, a major part of The rings of powerIn the Second Age timeline, Celebrimbor cannot see what is really going on around him. Naturally, questions will be raised as to why this happens and what powers Sauron has to achieve this.

Sauron has been slowly chipping away at Celebrimbor’s mind in the Rings of Power

Celebrimbor is much more susceptible to Sauron’s illusions

The reason why Celebrimbor believes in illusions comes from the previous episodes of The rings of power season 2. Since the premiere, Sauron has been slowly entering Celebrimbor’s mind, following Adar’s words. “His eye makes a hole and the rest of his body slides into it.” Using his mastery of deception, manipulation and trickery, Sauron has gradually convinced Celebrimbor that he is losing his mind, successfully transmitting this “reality” to the other smiths of Eregion as well.

Such as, The rings of power Season 2 Episode 6 shows Celebrimbor at his lowest point. Celebrimbor doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not as a result of Sauron’s manipulation, meaning that the latter can easily cast his spell of illusion on the former. This explains why Celebrimbor is oblivious to what’s really going on in Eregion, as he can no longer differentiate between logic and reality or fiction and deception.

Does Sauron really have the power to create visions?

This development with Sauron and Celebrimbor in The rings of power The second season raises the question of whether the former can even create visions. In Tolkien’s works, it is never explicitly stated that visions such as the one seen in The rings of power Season 2, Episode 6 might have been created by Sauron, but it certainly makes sense to use contextual clues. For example, trickery and deceit are Sauron’s primary weapons in Tolkien’s Legendarium, as is his ability to shape-shift at will, such as presenting himself as The rings of powerIt’s Annatar.

Sauron’s visions in The Rings of Power fit with the villain’s portrayal in Peter Jackson’s two Middle-earth trilogies, where visions of the Ring and Mordor were often shown to characters who fell under their influence.

Considering that Sauron has the ability to change his own appearance, it is no exaggeration to say that he can manipulate the environment around him using his sorcery. This likely explains how he is able to create the vision of a peaceful Eregion for Celebrimbor. Sauron has already made his way inside Celebrimbor’s mind and only needs to use a little magic to create the illusion around him. While it is not something that is fully described in Tolkien’s books, Sauron’s vision is another example of The rings of power cleverly altering the source material to tell a compelling story.
