Vance blames “liberals” for Trump assassination attempts – RT World News

No one has tried to kill Kamala Harris since she joined the race for the White House, the Republican vice presidential candidate said

The assassination attempts against Donald Trump are a consequence of the aggressive rhetoric of Democratic Party supporters, said Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance.

The U.S. Secret Service on Sunday confronted a suspected gunman hiding in bushes at Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The suspect, later identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, fled the scene by car but was arrested shortly afterward.

In mid-July, Trump was shot in the ear when several shots were fired while the Republican candidate was appearing at a campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania. One person in the crowd was killed and several others were injured in the incident; the assailant was shot dead by the Secret Service.

During a speech at the Georgia Faith and Freedom Coalition dinner in Atlanta on Tuesday, Vance suggested that “The big difference between conservatives and liberals is that… nobody has tried to kill (Democratic presidential candidate) Kamala Harris in the last few months, and two people have tried to kill Donald Trump in the last few months.”

The attempts to assassinate Trump are “There is pretty compelling evidence that the left needs to tone down the rhetoric and stop using this garbage,” He insisted.

If tensions continue to rise, “Someone is going to get hurt and it’s going to destroy this country… and think of the incredible wound that would open in America.” the vice presidential candidate warned.

“I promise I will do my part to tone down the rhetoric, but in particular, the people who are telling you that Donald Trump needs to be removed. You need to stop doing that, or you’re going to get somebody hurt.” Vance urged.

Trump made similar comments during an interview on X Spaces on Monday. “There's a lot of rhetoric right now… Democrats, when they talk about 'threat to democracy' and all that,” The Republican presidential candidate noted that when speaking about the two suspects in the attempted assassination of his life, the 78-year-old man said that “It seems that both people were radical leftists.”

US President Joe Biden, who was replaced by Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee in July, said on Monday that he wanted Congress to provide “more help” to the Secret Service in light of recent events. Trump previously confirmed that he had spoken by phone with Biden and Harris after Sunday's alleged assassination attempt, and that both were “nice” Him.
