Why bodycam footage from Justin Timberlake’s drunk driving arrest won’t be made public

Body camera footage of Justin Timberlake being arrested on DUI charges in June will not be made public.

The “Mirrors” singer reportedly reached a mutual agreement with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, with both parties agreeing to seal the video. According to TMZ.

No one will be able to access the footage outside of Timberlake’s legal team, police and prosecutors.

A representative for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Page Six previously reported that Timberlake, 43, pleaded guilty to a traffic violation and driving while impaired (DWAI) on Friday, three months after he was arrested for allegedly running a stop sign and swerving between lanes in Sag Harbor, New York.

At the time of his arrest, Timberlake claimed he had only “drank one martini,” but was subsequently arrested and spent the night in the local jail.

The Grammy winner was initially charged with one count of drunken driving and two traffic violations.

However, Timberlake was later able to plead guilty to a traffic violation for driving under the influence of alcohol, a DWAI charge, which is not a criminal offense.

A judge ordered Timberlake to complete 25 hours of community service, pay a $500 fine and appear in a public service announcement warning people about the dangers of drunk driving.

Timberlake reportedly apologized during last week’s hearing, saying he “understands and appreciates the severity” of his arrest.

Shortly after accepting his plea deal, Timberlake spoke to the media outside the Sag Harbor courthouse and urged people not to follow in his footsteps.

“Even if you’ve had one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car. There are plenty of alternatives: call a friend, take an Uber, there are plenty of travel apps, take a taxi,” Timberlake said last week.

“It’s a mistake I made, but I hope that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake. I know I have, no doubt about it.”
