(CNN) – Harvey Weinstein was “emergency rushed” to New York’s Bellevue Hospital on Sunday night “due to several medical conditions,” according to representatives for the disgraced former film producer.
“We can confirm that Mr. Weinstein underwent a procedure and surgery on his heart today,” Weinstein spokesman Juda Engelmayer and prison counsel Craig Rothfeld said in a statement to CNN on Monday.
“As we have stated at length before, Mr. Weinstein suffers from a plethora of significant health issues that require ongoing treatment,” they added.
A source familiar with the circumstances of the hospitalization said the surgical procedure was completed. Weinstein's scheduled court appearance on Thursday remains on track unless a doctor tells him otherwise, the person said.

Weinstein's defense attorney was notified in mid-August that a New York grand jury was considering evidence related to sexual assault allegations against the disgraced movie mogul. It's unclear whether the Manhattan District Attorney's Office has secured a new indictment.
Weinstein has suffered from several health problems in recent years and has appeared in court in a wheelchair.
Weinstein, 72, was convicted in 2020 of first-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree rape. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison, but his conviction was overturned on appeal in April.
He remains in prison in New York while appealing a separate 2022 conviction in Los Angeles, where he was convicted of three counts of sexual assault and sentenced to 16 years in prison.
