Will armed EPA agents come to take your car?

In collaboration with the United States Department of Justice, the Environmental Protection Agency has gone after another American company for “emission defeat devices.” A flashy press release has announced that Rudy's Performance Parts, a company we're sure many of our readers have used, has been forced to pay $10 million. for such a sin.

The EPA has declared war on aftermarket car modifications.

Some automotive publications have limits celebrated We will not make this move because we have been watching with concern as the EPA has moved from attacking large manufacturers and parts resellers to small high-performance shops and dealersWhat follows are the private enthusiasts at home.

What many people don't seem to understand is that Congress has never clearly defined what constitutes an “emissions defeat device,” so the EPA has free rein to change its own definition at will. This practice is carried out by others federal regulatorsmaking compliance by businesses and individuals more complicated and fraught with obstacles.

Which brings us to the next point: the people who say that if you're not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about. Well, they probably commit crimes regularly and aren't aware of it, but those same people are the first to throw rocks at anyone the feds bring out on the street to publicly humiliate.

That brings us to the stark reality that it's probably not too far off that armed EPA agents will be visiting people, who are just trying to keep the air clean. While pollution is not something we celebrate, using it as a pretext to crush American companies and go after private citizens for “emission-neutralizing devices” seems unequal.

After all, why doesn't the EPA investigate pollution generated by electric vehicle production? The answer is obvious: political expediency. It's not about fighting pollution, it's about power and control.

Just remember that when the friendly EPA agents dressed in tactical gear descend on your home for using what they have decided currently constitutes an “emissions defeat device.”
