CJ Mosley will miss the Jets' home opener due to a defensive hit

The Jets were missing a man in the middle of their defense on Thursday night as linebacker CJ Mosley was ruled out of the game with a toe injury.

Mosley has been a fixture on the Jets' defense for the past four seasons, calling the defense's plays and using the speaker in his helmet to take calls from coaches.

Mosley injured his toe early in Sunday's win over the Titans and left the game.

Mosley did not practice this week and was listed as questionable on the injury report.

Mosley told ESPN that he sprained the big toe on his right foot.

The good news is that it is not a broken big toe or a broken bone.

The Jets now have some time off before facing the Broncos on Sept. 29, so Mosley has time to heal.

Jamien Sherwood started in place of Mosley.
