Dear MOSTe Community,
Seasons greetings to you all! As we wrap up another remarkable year, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news and accomplishments with our community. First and foremost, please join me in congratulating our seniors who have successfully submitted their UC and CSU applications. These young scholars continue to exemplify the very essence of what MOSTe stands for.
I am thrilled to announce that as we close out this year, MOSTe has been blessed with generous grants from several esteemed organizations. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to: The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation, LL Foundation for Youth and Los Angeles Lawyers for Good. These grants are a testament to the impact of our work and will significantly bolster our efforts to provide life-changing opportunities for our scholars. Your belief in our mission fuels our passion and enables us to dream bigger for the young women we serve.
As the season of generosity unfolds, we invite you to visit our campaign page to learn more about how your contribution can create lasting change. Every donation, no matter the amount, plays a crucial role in empowering our scholars on their personal and academic journeys. We encourage you to share our campaign with your friends and family. By expanding our circle of support, we can amplify our impact and provide even more opportunities for MOSTe scholars to thrive.
With gratitude,

MOSTe Café: Organization & Study Skills with Notion!
As exam season nears, MOSTe recently hosted an innovative Study and Organization Workshop, introducing our scholars and alumni to Notion, a cutting-edge digital productivity app. Alumni Monica C. joined from her dorm room at Mount Saint Mary’s University LA! It was a great evening of networking, learning, and sharing productivity tips. This workshop not only equipped our scholars with powerful organizational tools but also reinforced the collaborative spirit that defines the MOSTe community. As our scholars prepare for their exams, they now have new strategies and a supportive network to help them excel.
SAT Strategies with MOSTe: Session
Our Class of 2026 recently completed their second SAT Strategies session, focusing on both the SAT and ACT. The juniors gained crucial insights into: Test registration, payments, and fee waivers, important deadlines and free study resources. As our scholars begin their winter study journey for spring standardized tests, we’re equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.
To our dedicated juniors: The entire MOSTe community is behind you! Your hard work will pay off, and we’re excited to see you shine. Remember, these tests are just one step in your bright future. Join us in wishing our Class of 2026 the very best as they prepare for this important milestone.
Good luck, juniors – we believe in you!
MOSTe Community Service: Heal the Bay
On November 16, 2024, MOSTe scholars, mentors, and community members united at Dockweiler State Beach for Heal The Bay’s “Nothin’ But Sand” Beach Clean Up Event, where they learned about ocean pollution, underwent safety training, and engaged in a two-hour clean-up effort while reconnecting with peers, meeting new scholars, and interacting with alumni, making a positive impact on both the environment and our community!

Mentor Moments

Words cannot fully express how much your efforts mean to MOSTe and, more importantly, to the young women whose lives you’re shaping. You are not just mentors; you are role models, confidants, and champions for these future leaders. As we look forward to the new year, know that your continued support is invaluable. You are making a profound difference, one mentee at a time, and contributing to a brighter, more equitable future for all!
I had the pleasure of attending my mentee’s Fall Choral Concert at her high school. It was the first concert of the 2024/25 season, and it did not disappoint! It was evident that the students practiced A LOT! It featured music from the last 500 years! I was so elated that my mentee invited me to such a special occasion! She looked beautiful onstage!
-Jodie D
I met with my mentee and fellow MOSTe Alumna Marian, they had a fun time attending the LA Zoo Christmas Light Show for the first time! It was a great bonding experience and we ended the night with some hotdogs street vendor style!
-Vanessa A
I took my mentee to visit the Norton Simon Museum in September, to see the play Cyrano D’Bergerac at the Pasadena Playhouse in October and took her for lunch in Sierra Madre in November. It has been a great time.
–Melanie M
My mentee and I enjoyed the Clippers game on November 17. We also participated in Heal the Bay Beach Clean Up on November 16.
– Alex A
My mentee and I grabbed coffee at Tierra Mia to get to know each other better. It was fun! We talked about her college plans, her love for basketball, and a little bit about her background and mine as well.
-Stephanie S
Kim Pontius and I had a wonderful time enjoying dinner and seeing all the beautiful decorations at the Grove with our mentees. The girls had pot roast for the first time and finished it off with a molten chocolate cake. Both loved it!
-Jenn B
My mentee and I went to a pottery studio for a mug-making class. It was a lot of fun and a cool activity to do together.
